WHAT: A call-in internet radio talk show called TAP IN with Laurie Johnson.

WHEN: Tuesday’s at 3pm P.S.T.

WHY: I get a lot of phone calls that start like this:

“Hi Laurie. I know you’re busy but I just want to run something by you. I need some sage advice and I know you won’t sugarcoat things for me. I know you’ll give me your honest opinion and tell me the truth, even if it hurts my feelings.”

My response? Start talking! (At that moment I get an adrenaline rush from the excitement. I love these calls)

If it’s true that our brand is what people say and think about us then I’m seen as someone who speaks her mind. People apparently appreciate that and subsequently value my opinion.

I’ve never solicited these types of phone calls. It’s been a natural progression over the years and it’s increasing in frequency. I get calls come from kids, parents, studio owners and others. Most of these calls last less than 10 minutes.

My job is not to wonder why this has happened. Of course, I pass out business cards with my phone number on it to anyone who will accept it, but doesn’t everyone?

My hope is that this show will serve as a valuable learning tool for us all. The conversations are brutally honest and I want listeners to gain insight from what’s being shared between me and the callers.

Of course, people also tell me “I’m funny and entertaining.” I’m sure I’ll manage to get some of that in there as well.
