As a teenager, it can be difficult with all the pressures of life and school. Not to mention, the social pressures you always seem to face. I find that it can be difficult to manage it all on your own. The thing is, no matter how young or old you are, we could all use a bit of advice from someone who is more wise. Oftentimes that comes from an adult that may not be your parent.
It could be that you confide in your teachers or coaches, or possibly even a guidance counselor in your school. If you have been feeling as though you are under a lot of pressure with grades and school, or you are under peer pressure, it’s time for you to learn how to deal with stress in a healthy way. The skills that you learn now early in life, will help you later on.
Learning How to Deal with Stress in a Sensible Manner
Maybe you feel social pressure that stressed you out if your friendships are not what you think they should be.
Many of you may be feeling pressures about dating, or perhaps getting an academic or athletic scholarship. This is normal. If you are feeling stressed over something,
Aside from learning how to deal with stress socially, consider the following:
- Eat right-avoid fast food, sugary soft drinks, and drink plenty of water
- Exercise on a regular basis-if you don’t play sports try out for the team and join teams that play through the summer
- Stay active all year long and through summer
- Read positive materials on a regular basis
- Be outdoors every chance you get
- Spend time enjoying your hobbies
There are tons of options for improving the quality of your life. Overall, you’ll feel better about your life, and where you are headed. You’ll also feel as though you are accomplishing something.
For me, it’s dancing. I literally work out my stress doing what I love! You can too!
Learn How to Deal with Stress Early in Life and Live Well
My rules for living are to have fun, and as you know from reading my blog – following your passion. People may not always understand or support you at first, but once they see your determination, they will encourage you to continue.
Don’t stress out over school, get help from teachers, tutors, and most of all of your parents. If you don’t feel comfortable sharing with them, seek out a mentor at school, like a trusted guidance counselor.
