We all need help every so often. Sometimes I wait too long before asking for help. I think I can do it all on my own. Maybe my ego gets in my way.
If I get emotional, I allow myself 15 PITY-PARTY minutes.
Fifteen minutes is ample time to feel bad, whine, pout, cry, blow nose, wash face, breathe, take responsibility for everything, and remind myself… it’s not the end of the world.
Owning everything helps me move past potential denial, fault-finding, blaming and complaining.
Asking for help alleviates feeling overwhelmed (like I am in this pic):
– Talk with someone trustworthy.
– Narrow down options.
– Accept limited powers to fix other people and their problems.
– Maybe have one more good cry.
– Stay optimistic.
– Don’t get frustrated if the person you ask for help is no help at all.
Getting help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
Regardless of your circumstances, life can get overwhelming and we all need help every once in a while.
If you’re carrying more than you can handle, try letting something go.
